Welcome to my Technology Projects page:

Throughout the duration of this course we created several special projects that included a personal Voki, a Photo Story, a TrackStar project, and a Power Point Game. I hope you enjoy the finished products as much as I enjoyed the creativity involved in the production process.

Get a Voki now!

Vokis are a fun way to create an animated version of yourself. In a classroom environment, an instructor could use Vokis as an ice breaker and as the means to provide students with the opportunity to learn more about each other while learning how to use technology. My voki was created at www.voki.com. Some other creativity websites that teachers may want to use in their classrooms are: www.wordle.net www.blabberize.com www.glogster.com These are all sites that can be used to add technological and creative support to the instructional content of the classroom.

In creating my own Photo Story project I discovered that technology has made the process of creating a professional finished product as simple as following as few basic steps. This project is a great way to incorporate creativity, writing and narration skills into a class assignment. Students can use the project to tell about themselves, another person or an event. A teacher could also assign a Photo Story project to individuals or student groups in lieu of a traditional report or paper.

Track #382203: Discovering Volcanoes

The TrackStar project was an interesting project that allowed you to develop a web based lesson that students can complete at their own pace. Depending on how the Track is structured, teachers can create a basic research track containing a list of websites, an inquiry Track where students answer specific questions based on information found on embeded websites, or even more indepth project based Tracks that require higher level thinking and analysis. By utilized Tracks in the classroom, teachers can enrich their current curriculum with technology based projects. Tracks can also be a great way to introduce students to research projects and to teach them how to critically analyze websites for their content. Most importantly, Tracks allow teachers to maintain control over what sites students visit, thus ensuring that sites are appropriate.

Power Points have become synonymous to class presentations. However, Power Point slided can be utilized in many other ways. The technology games project was an excellent tool to discover how teachers can employ games in the classroom. The website http://www.jc-schools.net/tutorials/PPT-games provides a number of games templates that teachers can download and customize. They would be wonderful to use as an in class review before a unit test, or to test and activate students' prior knowledge before beginning a new lesson. Students may even be more engaged in the process of learning weekly vocabulary words when they are presented in a game format.

As with all of the projects presented on this page, use of technology is only limited by your creativity and imagination. Enjoy!
